I keep promising I'm going to put up some close ups of older works, so I cropped some little bits to show here.
One thing that really bugs me about posting work here is that the small details I feel really make things work in a painting are TOO SMALL to see. It bothers me about my own work, and it especially bothers me when I view other people's work, because really I just want to pull them right through my screen and put them right up against my nose to see the DETAIL!
Some of these crops are at full size, some of them are considerably smaller (the lizards are about half size, but I painted that file so big that it would have been ridiculous to put up a 100% crop. There's a dragon fly in the mouth of the back lizard, you could NEVER see it in the small version I posted originally
I'm going to allow download, for close up viewing ONLY, but that in NO WAY means that any of these are to be used, recopied, etc etc. not to be reproduced in any way. I retain all rights to this work. Period.
Art thieves are lower than whale poo, aren't they?
Oh! I almost forgot
I REALLY want to see your 'little things'...I hope some of you will like this idea and post a collection of closeups of some of your work...link to it here and I'll include the links in my next journal coming out this weekend. Please?! Don't be shy! I'd love to see them, and it would be fun to share!
Thankyou for the close up look! This just reminds me of all the reasons I am watching you, all of your paintings are so inspiring, I hope that one day I can paint even half as well as you can.
ooh.. I have to go through your gallery again, some of those are totally new to me, ah! I remember the flying turtle! and the alien family, I love those two. Great job!
Well, you're very welcome, but ACK stop that! I'm jealous of YOU!
You game for close ups by any chance? I'd love to see some details of your work, how you blend your colours and the textures in your oils *sigh*...it's probably as close as I'll ever get to seeing it in person Darn it. But it's better than nuffin, right?
LOL! Thank you, it's a bit rougher up close, though, isn't it? I kind of like seeing that, though. I flipped it, btw, so the "Back o' Bourke" is backwards THought it would suit better with him facing inwards, tho
Don't be like that, you're a fantastic artist Look at all the book covers you've done...Wow, I haven't even done ONE, so there!
Well, thanks for looking It's just a rehash of old work, but in a way I feel like I didn't really get to show the work properly the first time around, which is a bit frustrating!
You have such pretty stuff in your gallery, you could do something similar? I mean show some closeups, if you want...I'd really like to see them if you did!
I must admit, I had no idea the lizard one was so huge, now I can see how you achieved such a level of detail. It is a bit frustrating, I agree. I found that with my only big piece so far, in order to see the whole thing you lose all the effort you put into details! But the rest of my work isn't really big enough for close-ups!
