Geez, I'm too weird for my own good. I just spent the last three days painting this, probably because I have another project that's really BIG near completion and I'm avoiding finishing it instead

Well there they are, in living colour.

Poor Cthulhus...

I'm really taken with Cthulhu Jr. I was thinking of giving him one of those beanies with the spinner thing on top :) But...maybe another day :)

Edited to add: I should have linked to the line drawing here [link] and added the comment on that page might explain this bit of weirdness ;)

Cheers :D

Hmmm. Mister Cthulhu is freaked by the bird, Mrs. Cthulhu by the butterflys, and Young Cthulhu by the dog, but none of them are scared by the cat! Is there a deeper meaning behind that?

:giggle: That poor child. The puppy and kitten look like they are enjoying themselves. "Well now I've seen it all." And the monsters are horrified by the "unnatural" world that they are in. Mr. Cthulhus looks almost as frightened as the Mrs.

This is so beautifully creative that I simply adore it. The use of colors is wonderful as well. As usual, your details are hardly lacking; it is perfect!!!! I love, love, love this piece. The propeller hat would be the only thing that could make this any better, but it'll be difficult to add that without messing up the rest of the picture. I love how imaginative this is. I cannot express that enough. :+fav:

Hehe...I loved working on the little one, he's so horrified by that dopey sweet puppy it cracked me up. I could still do the hat, I just wish I'd thought of it before I got sick of the painting lol!

Your comments are very kind, thank you :D

I love how they look terrified at the butterflies and kitten and puppy. AND that you could capture fear in the expressions of such bizarre Lovecraftian (is that a word?) creatures.

I often do that when I'm not in the right frame of mind to work on something big and daunting, I usually get stuck into doing something fun as a way to relax or as a warm up exercise...

It helps, doesn't it? Especially when I'm stuck on something and need to let ideas simmer in the background...I finished the painting I was worried about as soon as I finished this, so I guess it worked.

Yes, I find it's good to have several projects going at the same time...so I can have a break, but still keep working on something fresh...Yeah I know what you mean... like a good stew, some paintings need time to simmer...:D

Thank you! But I shouldn't take too much credit for the idea. I've pieced together some of HP Lovecrafts descriptions of the monster God Cthulhu (and thrown in some details from another of his monsters) as inspiration for this, so I have to give him credit for the idea (or would that be blame?! Yeah...it was HP's fault! )

Ah ok, well the portrayal of the characters and the idea behind the piece as a whole I will give you credit for; either way it's still an excellent dev! :D
